spring is in the air

It seems that everyone has been experiencing exceptionally warm February weather recently. We had the most beautifully clear, sunny weather last week and weekend, very unusual for our normally cloudy Vichy. Allana and I spent all last weekend running around Lyon, a fantastic city with so much to do. We definitely came back to Vichy on Sunday night wishing that we were, in fact, English assistants in Lyon instead.

Now with the GRE finished (it could have gone better and it could have gone worse, like most tests) I have a lot more free time on my hands. More time to sleep, read, relax. And just one more week until our two-week winter holiday, which I'll be spending 12 days of in Andalusia (Southern Spain) with Allana and her American boyfriend, Austin (also an English assistant). Totally stoked.

This summer I'll be working with MMLA, the French summer camp I've been working at for the past three summers. This time around, however, I'll be a teacher!!! And I'll be at a brand new site down in Spartanburg, SC, which looks nice. I've got practice teaching English about 12 hours a week, but this will be different as it will be teaching French for about 30 hours a week, plus a lot more preparation time. But it's only for four weeks plus I think it'll be a lot of fun.

I'll be accompanying about 35 high school students (along with 2 other teachers) to York, England in April for a week. In middle school and high school, French students have the opportunity to take trips to England, Scotland, Spain, Italy, and Germany (depending on their money situation and the language they're learning at the time). It might get crazy at times, with so many students, but most of them are ones I see once a week, and who seem very nice and fairly responsible. And they're just excited to be leaving Vichy and missing a week of classes! I haven't been to England in (8) years so I'm really excited.

Much love

hi!
just a quick note. more this weekend or next week, once the GRE is over.
instead of taking it this Saturday, I'm taking it this Thursday (due to locations and paper-based tests as opposed to computer-based tests and the amount of time it takes them to send the scores) so send a little prayer up for me this week (PLEASE!) if you think of it!
lots of love
